For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. ย (2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV)
ย
A few days ago, I chanced on an Interview on social media. In this interview, the host asked a man whether he is a Christian or not. He replied that he isnโt.ย He then in return asked the host if he is a Christian. The host replied that he is. The man then replied that the host cannot claim to be a Christian because he has impregnated his fiancรฉ. Surprisingly, the host agreed with the man and couldnโt defend his point with scriptures.
When I pondered on this interview, I realized that this is the same thing the devil does to some believers. The devil is called โThe accuser of the brethrenโ (Rev 12:10). If a Believer makes a mistake and commits a sinful act, the evil one will try his very best to make such a person feel unworthy to be a Christian. For those who havenโt put on their helmet of Salvation, he successfully gets into their head and cause them to fully backslide (Eph 6:17).
We have to know as Christians that our Righteousness is in Christ (2 Cor 5:21). We may make some mistakes and fall into sin. However, that doesnโt make us unrighteous in the sight of God so far as we still believe in the finished works of Christ. If we sin, Letโs remember that we have an advocate with the father who has already paid the price of our sins (1 Jn 2:1-2). Letโs repent and return to the Lord and His arms will always be widely opened to welcome us (Luse 15:20). This is not a ticket to sin because sin has consequences. However, this is the freedom to walk in the righteousness of Christ.
One thing I also got from this interview is that Christians should be mindful of the way we live because many unbelievers are watching us. We are the light of this world. Letโs therefore live a godly and a Christlike life so that our light will shine in this dark world and our father who is in heaven will be glorified (Matt 5:14-16). Our way of life should draw men to Christ.
Beloved in the Lord, Christ has paid the price of our past, present and future sins. We are the righteousness of God in Christ. Letโs always walk with this consciousness to overcome the wiles of the accuser. As lights of the world, letโs live in a way that will always bring glory to the Lord.
Prayer Point:
Letโs thank God for His word. Letโs ask the Lord to help all Believers to always be conscious of our righteousness in Christ. Letโs also ask Him to help us to live in a way that will always bring Him glory.
God bless you all!
