Title: Missing the Point

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? [3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. (John 9:2-3 KJV)

The world we live in today is laden with all forms of distraction and one of the results it seeks to achieve is to divert our attention away from the germane things and focus it on those things that are irrelevant. For instance, the devil is busy indoctrinating children in schools and colleges into homosexual practices. Even to the point of having people on the pulpit publicly defending the act and advocating for it. What we fail to see is that the devil is building an army from within the fold so his enterprise can succeed with less or no resistance.

In our opening scripture, the disciples, when diagnosing the blind man were focusing on the consequences of sin and their attention was on something entirely different from what God was doing but Jesus was kind enough to open their eyes to see the real reason the man was born blind. There are things happening around your life that you may need to pay attention to and diligently ask God for the reason so as not to miss the lesson He is trying to pass across. You might be going through trials like Joseph but that is not the point, the real reason might be to get you to the Palace.

As we journey through this new year, God has preserved your life and mine for a reason and I think it is wise to ask the Lord like Saul on his way to Damascus โ€œ Lord, what will thou have me doโ€ (Acts 9:6). As much as celebration is good and excitement is of getting into the new year is liberating, we must not miss the point that we have been preserved to go after souls that have been earmarked for hell and draw them into the kingdom, we have been preserved to proclaim the Kingdom of our God in every land we are domiciled, we have been preserved to show the love of God to the needy, the fatherless, the widows and the strangers. We have also been preserved to demonstrate the power of God among the heathen through signs and wonders.

Finally, our focus must be on what God is doing in this season and not miss the point while looking in a different direction.

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for His word today. Let us ask God for divine wisdom to see what He is doing so we donโ€™t miss the point.
