For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

On the first day of this year, we saw an Ambulance rushing a man who lives opposite the Church, to the hospital. This happened at the dusk of a new year, right after our 31^st-Night Service when many people were celebrating and carrying out fireworks. I don’t believe that this is how this man and his family planned to welcome the new year. We are all praying for the Lord to have mercy on him and heal him.

I would like to therefore let you know that if you and your family are alive and well today, it is by the Grace of God. This is because the life of man on earth is like a vapor; today you are here and tomorrow you are gone (Js 4:14). Life on this earth is a gift from God but it is also limited (Ecc 3:2). Let’s start the new year by first thanking God for how far He has brought us.

Also, the Lord is the Alpha and the Omega; He is the beginning and the end (Rev 22:13). Let’s therefore start the new year with the Lord and continue to build our life on Him (1 Cor 3:11). The truth is that we are all on this earth with limited time to fulfill our purpose. The Lord knows our purpose and he actually prepared them (Jer 29:11, Eph 2:10). As we walk with Him, He will reveal them to us and also help us to fulfill them.

Another reason why we should build our life on the Lord is that life is full of storms; trials may come within the year. For example, as a Believer, you may lose a loved one, lose your job, be unemployed, fall sick, experience rejections, go through a painful divorce, and experience many diverse forms of trials. The ability of your Faith to withstand these trials depends on how well your foundation is built (Matt 7:24-25).

Beloved in the Lord, God has kept us and our family safe and blessed us with a new year. Let’s therefore spend time thanking Him for what He has done. Also, knowing that life on earth is a gift from God but has a limit, let’s decide to build our lives on Christ as our foundation. When we do so, we are assured of a blessed and successful year.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today and for the new year. Let’s also ask the Lord to help all Believers around the world to build our lives on Christ as our foundation.
