17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!  Romans 5:17

In the body of Christ, there is a wide spectrum of Christian mindsets. On one end of the spectrum, there is what I can term the overly concerned with riches and success Christianity mindset. Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, there is the poor or minimalistic or cut off from the world Christian mindset. I might not be using the best terms but I hope you can get what I mean as I explain further.

Those of the rich Christian mindset are those who are somewhat focused on using God as a means to gain wealth and power, sometimes condoning sin and emphasizing less on Holy living. Meanwhile, those of the poor Christian mindset are those who are so hinged on that the word says “money is the root of all evil” so they fear wealth; or that the word says “we are not of this world” so they believe the believer should be least in society and just look forward to heaven. 

A sound or mature believer is supposed to be grounded in the entire word of God and not just lost in one section of it (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So indeed the word says “money is the root of all evil…” (1 Timothy 6:10). But it also says we are to work hard and create wealth to be of help to the needy (Acts 20:35).

We are not just saved to wait for Christ’s return but to tarry in good works until Christ returns (Matthew 25: 14 – 21). Those good works do not just mean winning souls into the kingdom of God but also catering to the physical needs of people. Look at the example of our Lord, Jesus; He didn’t just say after preaching “Salvation is all you need, you guys can die of hunger” but he multiplied bread for people to eat and be satisfied physically. 

Some believers feel like being at the top or places of authority is for unbelievers whether Government or Industry. But just as the opening verse says we are to reign in life through Jesus Christ. Look at what Proverbs 29:2 says:

2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

God has called us to reign in life and to be in positions of authority because that’s where decisions are made that affect many people. If we as believers then shy away from our ordination to be kings and rule with justice and fairness then the devil continues to take advantage to raise his agents to leadership and make us all suffer. Remember that even an enabling environment for the spread of the gospel is stifled by ungodly leaders.

Sons (male and female) of God arise and reign for it is evil to sit back while evil is perpetrated because you let the wicked rule.

• Let’s thank God for the Bible.
• May God help us to reign in life as He expects us.
• May God help us to be good stewards of wealth and power.
