Title: Greater Works

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.   (John 14:12)

Where is the miracle-working God? Where is the most powerful God? Where is the God of our Lord Jesus, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and the Apostles? These are the questions we hear most of the time and I have been pondering over this for some time now. We all know the mighty works performed by our Lord Jesus. John, when concluding his Gospel, clearly stated that only a few of the mighty works of our Lord Jesus were recorded (John 21:25). Our Lord Jesus also assured all believers that we will even do greater works than He did. However, how many modern-day believers are doing greater works? How many souls are we winning for Christ? How many lives are we impacting? How many miracles are we performing?

The truth is that, when you consider the mighty works of our Lord Jesus, the Apostles, and the Prophets, one may think that we are serving a different God. It’s not surprising that there is a section of Scholars who believe that the Grace for Many and Mighty Miracles died with the Apostles. However, I don’t believe this. Beloved, I want to assure you that we are still serving the same God; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8). Yahweh is still in the Salvation business! Yahweh is still in the Miracle-working business!

One may ask, why don’t we see the manifestation of this power frequently among believers? God has already given us power and all the needed Spiritual Blessings (Eph 1:3). We have all these residing in our Spirits but are not manifesting. Why is it so? God is always ready to use anyone who avails himself/herself powerfully and mightily. I believe one of the reasons is that modern-day believers are lazy and impatient. We want the demonstration of power but do not want to go through the process. There is no shortcut! We have to spend regular time in the presence of God before we can manifest His Character and Power.

Let’s look at the life of our Lord Jesus, and we all believe He came to show us the way. So, if we want to do the great works that He did, then we have to live our lives as He did. Our Lord Jesus had a great relationship with the Father to the extent that He was spending time in His presence daily (Mark 1:35). How many modern-day believers often do this? We don’t want to go deeper or spend regular time praying, fasting, studying, and meditating on the word of God but we want to see the manifestation of His power. We don’t want God, but we want His power or Gifts. It doesn’t work that way!

Beloved, we serve a Powerful God who has done mighty works in times past and still doing them today. If only we will seek Him deeper, we will see the manifestation of His power in our lives. He is always ready to use us. We are for Greater Works!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for the answers to the prayers we have already received. Let’s ask God to give all believers the hunger and thirst to be in His presence so we can manifest His Character and Power.
