I was watching a documentary about Egypt recently, where the narrator wondered how people who lived thousands of years ago were able to lift such large stones that the Egyptian Pyramids are made of. Modern science hasn’t been able to explain how, and some have even suggested maybe they were made by the Nephilim. However, the narrator said something that held the answer; he said (I am paraphrasing), “Humans can achieve much when united.”

When I heard that, I said, “That is the answer: unity was how the Egyptian Pyramids were built.” I know this because when a similar project was undertaken in Babel by Nimrod and the people of the old world, God mentioned that their success would be because they were united, for “nothing shall be impossible to them” because they are united (Genesis 11:6). When united, we can achieve whatever we imagine to do.

When Jesus was speaking about the importance of unity, he said, “A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand” (Mark 3:24). Nothing works if the people involved are not united. Are you building a home with your spouse, or are you leading a ministry or a business? What you need to successfully build a home, business, or ministry is unity among the parties involved.

Now, how do we achieve unity? Scripture says, “Pride brings strife” (Proverbs 13:10 ESV). This suggests that unity cannot be achieved where people are proud. This is why Jesus Christ took time to teach his disciples humility as expressed in service when there was contention among them about who would be the greatest (Luke 22:24-30). Humility can be learned, so take time to teach the people involved what it means to be humble, and for them to see service and serving as an exalted position.

Another thing we need to achieve unity is true love. Scripture made mention of the “bond of love” (Colossians 3:14). When true love exists amongst people, it is like a cord that binds them together. Like humility, love can also be learned. People would receive the grace to imitate the love expressed to us by Jesus Christ when their eyes are opened to behold it through what is written in scriptures.

Lastly, to achieve unity, you need to pray. God is the one who can touch the hearts of men to agree with you, for He enables them to see the same vision for your home, business, ministry, etc. So pray consistently for God to unite all involved in that endeavor.

The power of unity is limitless. Let’s seek to see this power manifest.

Let’s ask God to help believers all over the world to be united in the faith, in our homes, and in whatever endeavor we are involved in, so they can experience the limitless power unity holds.
