Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and He will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.”  (Daniel 3:16-17, NIV)

The truth that we are in the End Times is obvious to everyone who is discerning; the fulfillment of scriptural promises and the witness of the Holy Spirit indicate that this is indeed the End Time. As such, believers all over the world are watching to see the events predicted about this time play out and are being prepared to stand the test that this time will pose to all.

Some of the things the Scripture spoke about include the manifestation of the first and second beast, the image that will cause anyone who refuses to worship it to be killed, and the mark of the beast that anyone who refuses to take will be excluded from society (see Revelation 13). From the narrative of the Scriptures, Christians will be on earth during their manifestation and will be in a position to choose between their loyalty to God or bowing to the beast system (Revelation 13:10).

According to Scriptures, there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9). For us to know how to handle present or future events, we need to look at past events and see how God helped men to overcome (see Ecclesiastes 3:15). Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego lived in a time similar to that described of the End Time in Scriptures, for they were placed in a position to bow to the image that Nebuchadnezzar set up or face death (see Daniel 3).

From what was written in Daniel 3:16-17, the three Hebrew boys demonstrated trust in God by not defending themselves before the king, expressed knowledge of God’s power to deliver, and showed willingness to endure the pains of death in case God chose not to deliver them. This resolve is simply a demonstration of their faith in God and their love for God that was greater than their love for their own lives.

Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we must demonstrate the same faith and love for God if we would experience the deliverance they experienced. The grace to do this comes when we ask Him for help.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask Him to help us develop strong confidence in Him and let Him help us love and fear Him more than anyone or anything, including ourselves, so we can stand in this End Time.
