And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV
Walking with God is not one without challenges, as God may allow us to pass through trials and temptation. During these difficult times, we may be tempted to doubt His word; His nature of love that has been revealed of Him from the word. Knowingย that God is aware of our situations and that He has a plan for us is a great comfort in difficult times, and an anchor for our soul.
One of such plans He has for us is that He wants us to conform to the image of His Son (to be like Christ). The Bible says in Romans 8:29 that “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son ….” God’s image speaks of His character. And character attributes like perseverance (sometimes referred to as patience or endurance) is developed in us if we choose to be faithful to Him in difficult time. This was exemplified by job, who chose not to charge God with wrong by the evil He allowed him to experience. By His faithfulness, God has qualified him to be a model to the Church on how to go though difficult times and the evidence of the reward of being loyal to Him in the process (James 5:11).
Again, His plans also include using us as a source of encouragement to others. In 2 Corinthians 1:4, Apostle Paul states: “who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God”. Before you are qualified to speak comfort or encouragement to people, you must be one who has gone through discomforting or discouraging situations and have received comfort from Him. The reason for this is that the only comfort you can give to people is one that you have received, and God’s comfort comes to you only when you are in need of it (when you are discomforted). Words of motivation or encouragement is only powerful when it is coming from one with experience.
Even as you go though the trials of life, keep a positive attitude towards God, and a forgiving heart towards those the enemy might have used to bring about your pain, for only then can His plan for you be materialized.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word. Let’s also ask Him to help us to be loyal to Him, even in difficult situations.
