23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:23-25
What is a successful life? Is it to amass wealth, is it to live long, is it to be famous among men or is it to enjoy to the fullest the pleasures of life? The world has its standard for measuring a successful life but we in Christ must renew our minds and be guided by God’s standards and not the worldly standards inspired by the devil and the flesh.
The bible says “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27. This life is just a journey, not our final destination. Therefore, the real life is the eternal life, not this short and temporary stay. However, our decisions and actions in this life determine where and how we will spend our eternity. The first question is “have you decided to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior so that you can enter the kingdom of God?” (see Isaiah 53, John 3:16, John 14:1-7, Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have, good for you! The next step to a successful eternity is carrying out your predestined assignments from God (Ephesians 2:10). So again, step one is getting registered as a heavenly candidate through faith in Christ Jesus and step two is building your treasures or establishing your ranking in heaven through your obedience or submission or fervency in carrying out God’s instructions to you (Matthew 6:19-21, Matthew 25:14-28, Matthew 19:27-30).
With this understanding from the word, we can see that a successful life is how well a person obeyed or is obeying the instruction of God to him per time. The wealth, the fame, the pleasures although good are not our aim or goal or target rather pleasing the father who created and loves us with an everlasting love.
After teaching so much about holiness and faith, Jesus summarized everything with the instruction to love one another as I have loved you. Therefore, our goal is to love as much as we can until we meet the master face to face. That is a successful life in God’s sight regardless of how it appears before men flashy or not flashy. “Living your life without Jesus is vanity upon vanity” (a quote from a song).
Prayer Point:
