Beloved in the Lord. It’s a wonderful thing you have believed in Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior. However, the Lord wants us to continue to grow in our Surrender to Him so that we can live a more and more fulfilling life in Christ Jesus. 

The scriptures are replete with examples of living a surrendered life to God. For example, think of Abraham’s growth from leaving his home at God’s instruction to an unknown land to the point of being ready to sacrifice his dear son Isaac.

Surrendering our lives to God is especially important in these last days before the coming of our Lord Jesus, the best expression of which is being ready to die for your faith, because as the opening verse says, it is one of the keys to overcoming. As much as we don’t wish to die any time soon it is still premedical that you are aware of how serious this faith is and count your cost well.

Just like Peter you might be quick to say “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” (Matthew 26:33). But that might just be empty pride. A better approach is to continue to pray and trust God for help to grow in your surrender to Him.

Why do I keep saying “grow” rather than just “surrender”? Beloved that’s because there are levels to this surrender. Do you think Peter did not love Jesus before denying Him? I don’t think so. He had to grow in his surrender (love). Jesus had to take him through that experience and teach him a deeper level of surrender after his fall and repentance. 

Am I saying we should deliberately fall in order to learn Surrender? Far from the point. What am saying is the goal ultimately is to grow in our surrender until we are truly ready to die if the Lord wants it. This is the key to manifesting greatness in God’s kingdom and mandatory to overcoming in these end times. 

Prayer Point: 

Lord Jesus thank you for dying for us. Help us in your mercy and power to love you more than our lives, for you are worth more than our lives or anything else.
