Title: Access to the Blessing
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 14.08.2023
Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.ย Galatians 4:7 NASB2020
In his letter to the Ephesians Church, Apostle Paul wrote “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Eph.1:3 NASB2020). Now, despite we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, there is still need to access and manifest them.
God Himself is the blessing, as the promise of the seed of Abraham being a blessing to the nations was fulfilled by the coming of Jesus Christ (Gen. 22:18, Gal. 3:8). And since Christ is in us, every blessing we desire is already in us. The right of access to the blessing is based on our relationship with Him as sons; our standing with Him as sons makes us heirs of Him who is the blessing (Gal. 4:7). For this reason, fellowship (Intimacy or nearness) with God is the key to accessing all the blessings in Christ.
To understand how nearness with God gives us access to all, let’s consider the parable of the prodigal son as narrated in Luke 15:11-32. Despite the younger son left the father and went to a distant country, his identity as a son never changed. But as long he was away from the father, he was cut out from the riches of the father. However, when he chose to return, though as a servant because of the guilt of his sin, the father ordered that a new garment be given him and placed a ring in his finger. The ring represents authority, which meant the right of access to the father’s estate as a son was restored. We draw near to God with our minds by being conscious that He is with us and intimate with Him (prayer). We also do so when we spend time in His word.
In that fellowship, He reveals to us the blessings in Him for us, and by His help we are able to access and manifest them.
Prayer Point.
Let’s thank God for His word. Let’s ask him to help us spend quality time intimating with Him.ย
