Title:ย ย Accessing Our Inheritance in Christ
That the communication of thy faith may become effectualย by the acknowledging of every good thingย which is in you in Christ Jesus.
(Phm 1:6 KJV)
Virtue of our new birth, we have become heirs of God, which means we have the legal right to possess all that God is and has. All of Godโs blessings for Christians are located in Christ (Eph. 1:3). How do we access them? How can they become a living reality in our lives?
The word โtestamentโ meansย โa person’s will, especially the part relating to personal propertyโ. Therefore, the New Testament is a legal document that contains all that God has willed to us; our inheritance. So whatever we find in there, is what God has given to us. For example, it was stated in 1Corinthians 1:30 that Christ has become for us wisdom from God, which means we all have legal access to Godโs wisdom. Again, 1John 2:20 revealed that โwe all have knowledgeย (ESV)โ. Also, from 1 John 5:20, we see that God has given us allย an understanding to know the Truth, meaning we all have understanding. From these, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are ours for us in Christ, and they become effective (active, energized) when we acknowledge them as our scriptural verse of today admonished us.
We acknowledge the good things in us as revealed by the word firstly by thanking God for it. As we thank God for it, He empowers us to manifest these attributes. Normally when I pray, I spend some time thanking God for things He has given me in Christ. One day He granted me an experience to encourage me to continue. In a time of prayer, I discerned the presence of several Angels in my room: They stood in a long line and initially I saw their forms only. I started my thanksgiving by saying โThank you Lord for making me a blessing to my generationโ.ย As I said that, the Angel responsible to make that a reality in my life appeared (I saw him clearly, his face and clothes). I continued by sayingย โThank you Lord for being my wisdomโ, the Angel responsible for that appeared, in the same manner as the first. Then I understood that the Angels that were standing on a long line in my room were all attached to an area of my thanksgiving. Ever since then, my list of thanksgiving has increased.
Another way we acknowledge the good things in us is by affirming them. When Christ is your wisdom, there is no way you can be foolish. On this basis, you should always declare that you are wise, no matter the situation that seems contradictory. This is not pride, but you are acknowledging Godโs word as true over you. The more you do this, God empowers you to manifest it. The same goes for healing, righteousness, and other blessings we have in Jesus.
Prayer Point:
Let us take time today to ask God to reveal our inheritance in Christ to every believer, and He should give us all that grace to always acknowledge them, no matter the prevailing circumstances.
God bless you all
