Title: Avoiding distractions

Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. [4] Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. (Luke 10:3-4 KJV)
When a driver sets out to embark on a journey, their primary focus will be the destination and even though some people are dancing beside the road or some kids are playing football on the next street, he tries not to be distracted but focus on the journey in front of him because he has to get to the destination.
As believers, we are also on a journey of destiny. One that has been set before us by our master and the easiest way to avoid distractions is to stick to the journey instructions(Ps 78:1). There are many turns on the way and the enemy will advertise money, a lucrative job or open door that is not from God. We must continue on this journey with the help of the Holy ghost who is the chief instructor, director and navigator of our life (Ps 32:8). When they came to distract Jesus to become an earthly king, he withdrew himself from them because his kingdom was not of this world (John 6:15).
Distractions can be very dangerous and can thwart a glorious destiny like we see in the life of Samson who followed Delilah or in the life of the younger prophet that God sent to give a warning but got distracted on his way back when he listened to the older prophet and died as a result of his disobedience (1 Kings 13:1-24). There are men and women that God has great and mighty plans for but have become victims of distraction and have positioned themselves for destruction like king Saul.
You cannot be in Godโs presence and you are be distracted by your phone. You might be a young man and a seductress is hunting for your destiny and you think it is an opportunity. Joseph was faced with the same but he chose God and was focused on where God was taking him to (Gen. 39:6-8). Judas Isacriot got distracted with thirty pieces of silver and lost his throne in heaven.
The question is will you avoid distractions at all cost and focus on the divine journey God has placed before you? My prayer is that we will not fail Him that has called us into glory and virtue.
Prayer point:
Let us thank God for His word today. Let us pray for grace to remain focused on him and never get distracted.
