Title: Being bold and decisive for God

“27 And when they had brought them, they set themย before the council: and the high priest asked them,ย 28Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.ย 29Then Peter and theย other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men”. (Acts 5:27-29)
Boldness is a decisive action that shows unflinching willingness to take risks: it is also a deliberate confidence that indicates courage and strength. In our world today, people take the cost of whatever they are convinced will yield positive results through bold decision making. To them, it isย noble and therefore signifies strength, although, there are also some foolish bold decisions that attract gross failure, shame, dishonor and pathetic repercussions.
Thus, the best reward for bold decision is for God! since, we all take courageous decisions for things of vanity, things that at most would last but for some while and their glory fades away like seasons, why not channel that act to identifying with things of God. We see in the Scripture many inspiring examples of great people who stood firmly for God despite facing life threatening danger. The likes of Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego, also Daniel and in the new Testament, we see our Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles who went through severe humiliation, torture and monumental torment because they knew the worth of God.
Dearly beloved, serving God is not always a bed of roses as we must know that whoever that will serve God must be willing to pay the price of courage and boldness especially in times of trials and persecutions. We should not be ashamed of our Faith in Christ. Even though, it is not something the flesh is ready to accommodate, nevertheless, this is where the Holy Spirit takes charge. Peter who betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ by denying ever associating with Christ was the same who later showed great boldness and strength when they were captured in their Evangelical adventure. The nature of his death also indicates extraordinary bravery. It was the Holy Spirit that manifested all that in his life and also other Apostles like Paul, Stephen, John etc. May we stand strong for God despite challenges of life.
