Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 KJV)

As the chosen ones, we have been called into a kingdom of light and therefore, we are carriers of this light. The illumination from this kind of light does not only dispel darkness but it also lightens the hearts of men and the world itself. Jesus came as the light and everywhere he went was lightened by his good works (Acts 10:38). Over two thousand years after and we are still talking about the light. Many saints had lived exemplary lives that we can attest to and give glory to the Father on their behalf.

Spiritual character is essential in the kingdom and it is embedded in the fruit of the Spirit according to Eph 5:9. The manifestations of these fruits is played out as character in the life of a believer. God is highly interested in how we deal with people and our perspective of others. One of the reason He chose David was due to the integrity of his heart (Ps 78:72).

As much as it is a commandment on earth to do good works, it is also a requirement in heaven (Rev. 20:11-12). Although we are saved by grace through faith, we are rewarded according to our good works. So a believer whose works do not pass the test of fire (1 Cor. 3:11-15) may still make heaven but without any rewards.

We therefore need to consciously as believers build our portfolio of โ€œGood worksโ€, not as men pleasers, but as light carriers. Few ways to attain this status includes; interceding on behalf of others like the Prophetess Anna did for many years worshipping God in prayers and fastings until she saw the birth of the Messiah. Also, we load our good works account by spreading the goodnews of Jesus Christ to those in darkness, so they can come into light. Finally, in helping the needy, defending the poor, the widows and the fatherless (Ps 82:3-4).

In conclusion, this above may have been our lifestyle as believers but we need to be intentional about it and not as occasion serve us. We must never leave a place without being a blessing to the people we left there. Lets reach out to the depressed, to the sick, and to the hopeless and give them the hope and joy that Christ gave to us.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for the word today. Lets ask Him to enable us with his grace to attain unto good works in all we do so that God can be glorified.

God bless you!
