Title: Christ Is The Head Of The Church
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18 NKJV)
One day, after being with His disciples for a long time, the Lord Jesus asked them who people thought He was. They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” Then He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?”. God revealed the truth to Peter, and he answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”. Jesus responded that He would build His Church upon this “rock” — the revelation of who He is (Matt 16:18). Since then, the Lord has been building His Church on this foundational truth.
One mistake many leaders and founders of Christian denominations make is thinking that the Church belongs to them. This often happens because, physically, it seems like they built it through their own sweat, sacrifice, and dedication. However, we must not forget that everything we invest toward the growth of the Church comes from the Lord — and He could have used someone else to fulfill the same purpose (Rom 11:36; Js 1:17; 1 Pet 1:3).
Also, it is the Lord working behind the scenes, convicting hearts and drawing people into His Kingdom (Jn 16:8). Therefore, church leaders must remember that the members belong to Christ, not to them. They have been chosen by grace to lead Christ’s Church and to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Eph 4:11).
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church — His body (Col 1:18). And since He is the head, it is only reasonable that we spend our time getting to know Him. Christ must be the focus of the Church, and every message we preach should point to Him. Sadly, some church leaders begin to draw attention to themselves after being used by God to perform a few signs, wonders, and miracles.
Beloved, Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, and He is the one building it. We are merely vessels He uses. Knowing this, let us make Him the central focus of the Church and our message. Every believer should be committed to spending regular time getting to know Christ and living in total obedience to Him.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help Church Leaders to make Christ the main focus of the Church and the message. Let’s also ask the Lord to help Every believer should be determined to spend regular time to know Christ and live our lives in total obedience to Him.
God bless you all.
