Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.”. Revelation 22:11 NIV

Some years ago, while a conversation was on about me planning for the future, the Holy Spirit said in my heart “Plan for Eternity”. His words imparted His fear (reference) in me, for I knew that whatever plan I was making then, must be done in His consciousness and with the knowledge that there are consequences for our actions or decisions.

Though we have received eternal life now (1John 5:12-13), there is a time in the future, after our period on this present earth, where our works will be rewarded (either good or evil). When Jesus Christ was teaching His disciples to be accountable, He revealed the coming judgement to them (Matt. 12:36), and when He encountered Apostle John in the book of Revelation, He emphasized the same to the Church (Rev. 22:11). Therefore, the knowledge of eternal rewards is an important one that God sees necessary for us to have to have a profiting walk with Him.

For us to have a full reward, there is need for us to continue in well doing, that is, to persist (Rev. 22:11, Roman 2:7). The way this is possible is for us to always have the consciousness that He is with us. This was how Joseph lived, and His consciousness of God made Him say no to Potiphar’s wife suggestion. For He said “… How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God (Gen. 39:9)” seeing God with Him.

As we walk in His consciousness, we receive the grace to persist in well doing. Which guarantees our eternal reward.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us be conscious of Him at all times.
