ย 7. For he who has died has been freed from sin (Romans 6:7).

20ย I have beenย crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and theย life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, Man has lost the true essence and purpose of his existence due to sin. Sin is a spiritual poison that kills the soul of man. Not only that, sin is the lawful or legal right the Devil has to rule over man. When Adam sinned, he gave the Devil access point or jurisdiction to possess him and thus legally take the claim over manยดs inherited dominion from God. There are many people, in fact, Christians who were falsely indoctrinated about the reason for the coming of our Saviour. They were fed with wrong revelations of Christ that He came and died so they could be financially rich, gain the pleasures of this world, or become successfully wealthy. They have the wrong understanding of the true reason for Christยดs coming.

Jesus Christ was not nailed on the Cross so that you could be financially rich, or successfully affluent, or build a mega house, or have a career. He came for a more serious issue, and this has to do with the redemption of the soul of man (Matthew 16:26). He died to solve the lingering and perpetual eternal problem of man. We were all massively destined to eternal condemnation; poor or rich, educated or uneducated, male or female as all have sinned (Romans 3:23). He died so that we live, and the life we live is no longer according to the dominion of sin, rather, by obedience to righteousness which is by grace. It is necessary we understand that sin was imprinted in man, thus,ย  the only way to ride off sin is by dying, because death is the end or stop of an existence. So, as Christ literally died on the cross and resurrected for all (2 Corinthian 5:14-15), so also we must die to the body of sin by water baptism (Romans 6:4-6; Colossians 2:12-13) and as we are taken out of the water, we are resurrected with a new body and nature that is no longer of sin but righteousness of Christ.

Now that we are dead to Sin, we also need to deal with the other enemy which is SELF! Self is the second major problem of man. Many people are saved but Self is the one ruling over them, and they mistake it for God. They will be doing so much in service of SELF thinking they are doing it for God. It is important to note that, Christ died for SIN, but it is one’s responsibility to kill Self by individually bringing SELF to Golgotha for slaughter in order for theย  Holy Spirit to get more expression for the will of God to be enacted. Self and Holy Spirit cannot be the captains of your ship at the same time. Self is conquered by the individual who willingly asks for grace to submit self at the feet of Christ through humility and absolute self-denial (Matthew 16:24).

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God for the word and also ask Him to help us die to sin and self.
