And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.ย Matthew 25:15 NKJV
One of the things that were used in scriptures to describe the life of a man is a temple, for we were called the temple of the living God (2Cor. 6:16). As we know, a temple is a house (a building), and the size of a house determines the number of people or things that can be placed inside. In the same manner, our spiritual capacity (the size of our spiritual house) determines how much God can entrust to us.
Apostle Paul speaking to the Ephesians Church said, “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified (Acts. 20:32), revealing that the word of God is the building block of our spiritual temple. Consequently, our spiritual capacity is a function of the amount of God’s word in us. The word of God contains the revelation of the person of God, His work, and His instructions. His instruction for the New Testament Church is “Love as I have loved you (John 13:34)”. Therefore, our spiritual capacity is a measure of our ability to love.
Apostle Paul speaking about love to the Ephesians Church said “…that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of Godย (Eph. 3:17โญ-โฌ19 KJV). This suggests that it is possible to comprehend the full dimensions (expressions) of God’s love, and this has the ability to expand our temple enough to be able to host the fullness of God.
Therefore, the more understanding we have of the word of God, the greater our spiritual capacity. Understanding is given when we spend time meditating on the word. Again, acts like ‘prayer and fasting‘, ‘praise and worship’, speaking in tongues, and receiving Prophetic ministrations, etc. help build our spiritual house up (increase our spiritual capacity)
Prayer Point:
Let’s ask Him to help us to spend time in His word and practice other kingdom activities that would help increase our spiritual capacity
