Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, [21] And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:20-21 KJV)

When unpleasant situations arise, people are quick to blame God and ask why He didn’t rescue them and why He allowed their condition to degenerate to a deplorable state. The people who passed by asked Jesus when He was on the cross the same question, why He didn’t save Himself, but the Lord kept quiet (Mark 15:29-32). He kept quiet because they lacked wisdom and could not comprehend the things of God.

God always has a good end for mankind. That is why even before we were born, He sent his only begotten Son to die for us. Don’t let sorrow or pain make you speak evil of your maker because He knows what you are going through. Like Joseph, some of us might be on a journey to the throne but must suffer to get there. If that journey is cut short, we may never get to the destination.

That is why the enterprise of prayer is non-negotiable. It is possible for God to give us a glimpse of the future as an encouragement. Jesus knew the glory that awaited Him after the cross and endured. At other times, faith and absolute trust in God are what will power us through. However, faith in God is serious work because it requires patience, and this is where many people miss the mark and abandon God’s agenda for their lives.

Even if we have lost anything due to negligence and allowed the enemy to cart away our blessings, the Almighty is able to restore to us double what He did for Job (Job 42:12) if we continue to glorify and praise Him despite our unpleasant circumstances.

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask the Father for grace to trust Him in unpleasant circumstances.
