Title: Don’t Give Up
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 07.05.2025
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
2 Chron. 15:7 NIV
Though we have been redeemed from the world, as Christians, we may still experience challenging seasons. Each challenge we experience is known by God, and He allows it because of what it produces in us. Though it may be difficult, there’s a reward for us if we do not give up, and if we endure to the end.
There is an elevation at the end of each challenging or trying season we experience, but many Christians miss out on them because they give up in their seeking of God. There are certain things we need to know so we can be faithful in our walk with Him. The first thing we need to know is that trials produce character in us. When James wrote about the trials we experience as Christians, he said “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:2-4)”. Perfection is produced in us by trials.
Another thing that is necessary for us to know is that suffering is only a sign of glory. Before Jesus Christ stepped into His glory, He first endured the pain of the cross. He said to His disciples at His resurrection “Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory? (Luke 24:26)”. Just as it was necessary for Christ to suffer, so it is for us. This was why Apostle Paul wrote, “If indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory (Rom. 8:17 NIV)”. So, the suffering we experience as Christians because of the challenging situations we face is only a sign that the glory of God is resting on us (1 Peter 4:14). If we don’t give up, we will see that glory manifest.
Lastly, we need to know that no matter how challenging the situation is, there’s surely an end. The scriptures say “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (Prov. 23:18)”. Knowing this gives you hope for a change. In a time of intense trials, David had the courage to say “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living (Prov. 27:13)”_. This is the attitude God expects us to have in a time of trial.
Prayer Point.
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us not to give up in a time of trial.
