Title: Don’t Give up on them

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:5-7
There are some people we might be thinking “these people are doomed; they are going to hell”. You can think of notorious immoral artists or dictators or a very wicked person you know and so on. We might be right in saying they are going to hell, as in they are on the way to hell, but it can come with an attitude which is wrong. That is the “all hope is lost for this one”, or “they can never change” attitude or mindset.
We in Christ must be violent in faith and love (Matthew 11:12). As we see in the opening verse love always hopes. As long as a person is still alive, God is still hoping that the evil or stubborn child will repent and return. He does not take pleasure in the death of the sinner but hopes till the end for his repentance (Ezekiel 18:21-23). Scriptures says He leaves the 99 in search of that one lost sheep; He is still eager, yearns for that one lost sheep to be saved (Matthew 18:12-14). What we see the father doing is what we ought to do because we are His children (Luke 6:36-42, John 5:19-20 NIV). So why do we give up on people?
Although Scripture describes some depts of intimacy with God which if someone falls away from the faith even after going that deep, it is impossible for them to be brought back to repentance (Hebrews 6:3-8), it is still God’s desire and must be ours that we hope for the repentance of everyone. Most at times only God knows if they even truly had such a deep intimacy with Him. Some outrightly have never known God, some are perhaps a product of a lot of deception, coupled with pride and laziness and one reason or another.
Practically what this hope means is that we continue to pray for them. We love them when we can. We forgive them. We believe they can change. We want to win them over with love. We are ready to seize an opportunity or chance to share the word of God with them without hesitation and discrimination as the spirit leads. When there is life there is hope. Don’t give up on anyone.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His mercy. Let’s pray for grace to be more like our heavenly father hoping for all sinners to be saved.
