Title: Emerging Victorious

To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Revelation 3:21
The opening verse talks about the honor Jesus will give us at the end of our lives if we emerge victorious. However the victory is not only futuristic but something of the past as we can see in this verse “6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7” Ephesians 2:6 And also of the present “37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” Romans 8:37. So in summary I was victorious because of Christ, I am victorious because I am in Christ but I still need to emerge victorious. So how do we emerge victorious.
First of all one of the reasons we still need to emerge victorious despite the victory Christ has achieved for us, is simply because it makes life interesting. Can you imagine life without challenges? How will we celebrate success if there was no obstacle? In the same way, how can we be victors if we don’t gain victories?
Christ showed us how to emerge victorious; Philipians 2:8-9 “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to deathโ even death on a cross! .Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name”. We emerge victorious by submitting to the will of God. By trusting and obeying His will daily. That’s why Jesus taught us in prayer “let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. We are in battle in this life. Many at times the spiritual battle is going on only in our minds. That’s why the bible says “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” proverbs 4:23. Some thoughts are in line with the word of God and some are out of phase with God’s love. So what does this mean for you and me who are conquerors? We have to filter our thoughts, judge them. Selecting what is good and rejecting that which is bad. Let our thoughts be a reflection of the word of God. Remember that as sons and daughters of God we are led by the spirit of God and not by feelings. A feeling may be real but not correct. As a testimony, sometimes I am attacked by feelings of pride or contempt, just to name a few, and I pray “lord help me I am weak”. I struggle to remember what exactly the word says. So as scripture says prayer and remembering the word of God is needed to do His will (Mathew 16:41, Ephesians 6:10-18).
There is not only a final reward in heaven for doing the will of God but even in this short life as a foretaste of heaven. “For I know the plans I have for you,โ declares the Lord, โplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”Jeremiah 29:11. His plans are to prosper you. But how can His plans work if we don’t follow them one day at a time?
Prayer Point:ย
We thank God for the word today. Let’s pray for the grace to remain steadfast till the end and repent quickly when we fall from grace.
