“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable” (1 Corinthian 15:19)

Hope according to definition is an optimistic state of the mind that is based on an expectation of pleasant and positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. It is also known as confidence in estimated anticipation of a better eventuality. In our world today, we have different activities that tend to give us some hope that the end thereof will be successful.ย  All living things in one way or the other have strong believe that what they are expecting whether good or bad will surely manifest eventually. Hope is a virtue that one can notice virtually in all humans, regardless of age, gender, social affiliations etc. The poor hope that a day will come when they will overturn that bad financial disability and the rich hope that they keepย  getting richer and better financially. The sick hope to get healed soon and the healthy hope to maintain a stable healthy life with no illness for a long run.

Whatever the nature of the ‘Hope’ each person harbors, it is an established fact that we all hope for something better in life despite our contemporary predicaments. Many religions and associations lay claim on hope of getting something good or even better as they firmly believe. Christians likewise have hope. However their “Hope” is inย  Christ. Now therefore, it should be noted that the hope in Christ is not just ordinary earthly hope that satisfies the abundant desires of the flesh like success, miracles, healing, breakthrough, wealth only. In fact, if we based our hope in Christ because of material gains of this world, the Scriptures said “we are of all men most miserable“.ย

The Hope that comes through Christ is the one that grants express entry into God’s Kingdom. God does not want anyone to perish hence the coming of Christ to redeem us by being the first fruit of the death, by so doing we his followers have eternal power over Death. Dearly beloved, our hope in Christ is bigger than all the earthly hopes put together and we should know that the Sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary is to give us that golden hope that no amount of money can buy, for it is expensive yet freely given to them that believe.

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God today for his words. Let’s also ask Him to help us sustain that great hope in Christ
