And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ, but we need grace to access each of them. The grace for financial prosperity is different from the grace to prophesy. It is possible for one to have grace in certain areas but lack grace in others. However, it is possible to excel in all grace.

Grace qualifies us for God’s blessings and enables us to do what is needed to manifest them. So, grace is both unmerited favor and an empowerment. In his second letter to the Corinthians, Apostle Paul revealed the varied nature of grace and the possibilities of one lacking grace in certain areas when he said, “But since you excel in everythingโ€”in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in the love we have kindled in youโ€”see that you also excel in this grace of giving” (2 Cor. 8:7 NIV).

From Paul’s statement, the Corinthian Church had grace in faith, speech, knowledge, and zeal but lacked the grace of giving. Apostle Paul also said, “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NKJV), indicating that giving helps us excel in every grace in Christ.

To help them excel in every grace, Apostle Paul encouraged the Corinthian Church to give joyfully. This admonition is true for us also; when we give joyfully, God makes all grace abound toward us. Despite this reality, the devil has sown seeds of discontent in the hearts of many Christians regarding giving, but knowing the truth about giving frees us from his deceit.

Go and excel in all things; receive the grace to give joyfully.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help every Christian excel in the grace of giving.
