And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 

God is good. All the time God is very good. This is an important reality and comfort which we always need to remind ourselves and others of. Knowing that God is good encourages us to trust Him and obey his commands and endure trails. 

God is good. Everything He made was very good (Genesis 1:31). One may ask why then is it that there is evil in the world or suffering and pain. Well, I may not be able to answer that but think about this; could it be it is all part of His divine plan to reveal His goodness or love? It is because of sin that He sent His only son to die on the cross for our sins to restore us back to Him after we left His presence through of the disobedience of our Father Adam. Also remember that life ends. So, there is an end to the suffering and pain. Yet everyone will give account of what He has done. In order words, face judgement (1 Peter 4:5). Also consider that if there is no time of suffering or pain or lack how do you appreciate the good times. The ups and downs of life could perhaps be strategy to create a story called life. 

God is good. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (Mathew 5:45), that is, He shows mercy. But still punishes evil. He works out things well for those who love Him. And how do we love Him by obeying His commands (John 15:10, John 14:15). God’s commands are inspired by God’s love and for your good. Just like our earthly fathers give us instructions to guide us not and destroy us.  

God is good is a proclamation of faith we must endeavour to make even when we don’t feel like it. He is Love and He is good. His plans are to prosper you, but how can His plans for you be fulfilled if we don’t trust and follow His plans by obeying His commands daily (Jeremiah 29:11, 1 Peter 5:7). Even in trials or persecution let us remember that God is Good and it for our good. Trials helps us conform to Jesus’s character (James 1:2-4). Isn’t it a good thing to become like Jesus? 

Prayer Point 

Let’s pray for the grace to always trust in and proclaim the goodness of God in all circumstances.
