And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
Before leaving earth, in His prayer to God, He said, “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one” (John 17:22 NKJV). The word “Glory” was translated from the Greek word “Doxa,” which means “all that God is or has,” that is, His Character, Power, and Prosperity.
So, in every believer is the glory of God, for this is our inheritance in Christ Jesus. To manifest the glory of God, there’s a necessity for us to share in the sufferings of Christ. Scripture says, “…if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together” (Rom. 8:17). For this reason, God allows His children to share in the sufferings of Christ, so they can share in (manifest) His glory.
The sufferings of Christ are whatever we endure because of our association with Christ and obedience to His Word. It can manifest in different forms. For example, the trials of Joseph were him sharing in the sufferings of Christ, for what he endured was because of the Word of God to him. This can also be said of Moses, for his desire to see the children of Israel set free from bondage (which was God’s will) made him act in the way he did, and he had to leave the palace of Pharaoh and spent 40 years in the wilderness. Not often spoken of are the trials of Job, for his affliction was because of his association with God (God permitted it to prove a point to the devil).
However, the key to converting our pain as a result of suffering to power (glory) was revealed through Apostle Paul, who was afflicted in his flesh because of the greatness of the revelation he received from God. He said, “I will rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Cor. 12:9 KJV). We glory in our infirmities by thanking God for them.
Thanksgiving is the greatest act of faith. Thanking God for the challenges He allows is the way we convert our pain to power.
