(For the weapons ofย our warfareย are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down ofย strongholds๐ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivityย every thoughtย to the obedience of Christ;
(2Co 10:4-5 KJV)
ย
Earth was created to be a parallel of heaven. Godโs model for its operation was that He will rule over the earth through Man. For this reason, Man was created to operate in two realms; the spiritual and physical realms. By his spirit, he is connected to the spirit realm. By his body, he interacts with the natural. The coming together of the spirit of a man and the body of a man produced a media; a connector called the soul (Gen. 2:7). Therefore, Man is a tripartite being; he is a spirit, a soul, and a body (1Thes. 5:23).
The soul is the seat place of โthe will, the mind and the emotionโ. With the mind, Man thinks: with the emotion, he feels: and with the will, he decides. The decision we make continuously with our will forms what we know as our personality. The state of our minds determines the quality of the decisions we make and the emotions we feel, making the mind a master of our will and emotions. This is the reason the bible saidย โas a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7)โ.ย
There is a battle over the soul of man. This battle is between the kingdom of God and the Kingdom of darkness. Who controls the soul of a man, controls the man and can exercise its will on earth through the man. This is because spirits donโt have bodies, so they have no legal entry into the earth (the natural realm). But with a human vessel yielded to their power, they can influence the actions and decisions of a man. The mind is the battlefield.
Humans are not just the subject of the war, they are the victims of it. Sadly, very few are aware there is a war over them. The first key to gaining victory in the mind is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. When we accept Him as Lord and Saviour, His Holy Spirit comes into our spirit (1 Cor. 3:16), we are given the right to use the name of Jesus (Matt. 16: 17-18) and the mind of Christ (1Cor. 2:16). Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, means weโve been given the victory, but it is not the end of the battle. By His knowledge, we are equipped with the tools needed to manifest that victory (2 Peter 1:3).
The second key is for you to renew your mind by meditating on the word (James 1:21, Romans 12:1-2). Before salvation, the devil has structures in place in the mind of the individual by the false ideas, thoughts and imaginations he floods his or her minds with. This is the stronghold our scriptural verse talked about. Even after salvation, the devil still does this to a believer, if left unchecked. But by meditating on the word, we can recognize and allow what is acceptable to God, and reject what is not acceptable to God. Every thought or imagination against the will of God that comes to our minds is inspired by the devil and his agents. Knowing this, we cast out the spirit behind such thoughts and imaginations using the name of Jesus (2Co 10:4-5, Luke 10:19, Matt 16:23).
Speaking in tongues empowers the human spirit (Jude 1:20) and drives out satanic forces. The more we engage in it, especially for a long time, strongholds are broken and we can receive more of Godโs thoughts.
