Give Away A Kind Word

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad (Proverbs 12:25)

What is the easiest and cheapest gift to give to someone? What can make a sad heart glad again? The answer is to just give away a kind word. It doesnโ€™t cost anything! A kind word can make a person sing or skip down the street. A kind word can also save a life for the kingdom of God; Heaven rejoices just because of your kind word that saved a Soul.

Your mouth can do more than gossiping, screaming or swallowing food. It can encourage a sad heart, it can cheer a heavy heart. Learning kind and encouraging words of truth can help you improve on how to edify others. Take a moment and ask yourself, can you spot a heavy heart or a sad spirit? After recognizing a sad spirit, do you know the good words he/she needs?

Most of us are too self-centered and preoccupied with our own ambitious needs, forgetting about what the Bible teaches (Gal. 6:1-2). Most do not have the affection or concern to say something kind and helpful, either they are too lazy to consider other people, fearful or ignorant.

Someone who has a heavy heart carries weighty burdens that make him/her stoop. The soulย  of such a person is then pressed down by cares, circumstances and troubles. Lemuelยดs mother suggested wine to help (Prov. 31:6-7) but why Wine, when God has given us the ability to be our brothers keeper (Matt 18:15).

ย

When Mary Magdalene, who Jesus has forgiven, was crying after she saw her Master`s (Jesus) empty Tomb, a man appearing to be a gardener (who was Jesus) called out her name, “Maryโ€œ. Surprisingly, with one good word, she became well and responded, “Masterโ€œ ( John 20:11-18.) Please ask yourself, when was the last time you complimented someone directly and sincerely? How often do you do it? A kind thought about someone which is not expressed is worthless.ย

Beloved, if you have a good thought about someone, please tell them. How much better would the world be if people complimented those deserving it. Bearing one anotherโ€™s burdens fulfills the laws of Christ (Gal. 6:2), and if you are strong in the Lord, it is your duty to look for those who are weak and help them (Rom. 15:1-3).

Letโ€™s remember that the tongue has the power of life or death; but the godly use it for health and life (Prov. 12:18). The goal is to edify or build up one another as Jonathan encouraged David, when he was hiding in the woods (1Samuel 23:16). Be Kind!
