Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering:

A man of God I know shared a story of an encounter he had with one family some time ago. In this family, there were two boys who had just completed their Basic Education. One of the sons was fit and healthy and the other one had Down Syndrome. One day, the family brought the son with Down Syndrome to be trained as a Pastor or Church worker. The Pastor asked about the other son, and they said that they wanted him to further his education to the highest level.

The truth is that our mentality of who God is and what pleases Him influences the way we give ourselves and our possessions for His Service. Growing up, we have been taught that God accepts and appreciates every little effort. Due to this, most believers choose to give their maximum efforts towards other services and just a little effort towards the service of God.

Today, I want you to know that the Lord also wants your best. The Lord expects us to give the best of our strength, time, money, and possessions towards His service. It pleases Him when we use the Gifts and Talents that He has given us to serve and do His Will. The truth is that God is faithful and every sacrifice we make for His sake will surely be rewarded (Heb 6:10, 1 Cor 15:58). Let’s learn to put God first and give Him our best.

If we consider the story of Cain and Abel, we see that the Lord accepted Abel’s offering because He gave his best while Cain’s own was rejected (Gen 4:4-5). As New Testament believers, the best offering we can give to the lord is to offer ourselves as living sacrifices towards His service (Rom 12:1-2).

Beloved in the Lord, everything we have including our Gifts and Talents comes from the Lord. Therefore, let’s refrain from giving God our less. Let’s rather give God the best of our strength, time, money, and possessions towards His service, and He will reward us greatly. The Lord deserves your best and so give Him your best!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask God to help all Believers around the world to put Him first and give the best of our strength, time, money, and possessions towards His service.
