Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.(Malachi 3:16 KJV)

A wise man once said that being full of God is Godfulness and the reverse is Godlessness. When we are God-full, it comes out in our daily conversations, in our thoughts, in our actions, and interactions with others.

According to our opening scripture, it is important to fellowship and commune with the brethren because the content of that conversation is heard by the Lord and documented in the book of remembrance before Him. Our conversations must be God-centered at all times. Even though we are just having a chat or communing together with a friend, it must reflect that we’re constantly thinking about His name. The book of remembrance that has our record can be used in our favor on the day that we need divine intervention.

However, when we speak carelessly, the reverse is the case. The scripture noted that speaking evil is costly to the believer because it can cut short his life (Ps 34. 12-13). This is because the devil also takes records and uses them to accuse that believer day and night before God because he will always be the accuser of the brethren. All through the ordeal of Job, the devil was patiently waiting for Him to curse God or sin with his words. That way, he would have been justified in inflicting the sufferings upon Job.

To be able to have God in our thoughts and our conversations is to be grounded in His word and meditate upon it day and night (Josh. 1:8). The Holy Spirit then takes over and helps us to think in scriptures about regular day to day living and helping to apply the word of God to situations and challenges that may come our way.

Let us thank God for His word today. Let us pray for grace to always have God-centered communication in our daily lives.
