17ย And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. 1 King 5:17
Right from the beginning, it has been God’s desire to share fellowship and communion with men. This desire was not fulfilled in Adam. However the ancient of days did not give up on this desire. He instructed Moses to build a tabernacle so that He can dwell among the Israelites in the camp. But this was a temporary solution for God’s desires.
When David was King he also desired to build a house for the Lord but the Lord chose Solomon his son to build the house. In the book of first kings, Solomon instructed the builders to build the temple with precious stones 1 Kings 5 vs 17. The Bible says these stones were prepared and finished at the quarry so that no hammer, or chisel, or iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built. The temple that Solomon was building resembles the body of christ in this dispensation. Because in Solomon’s wisdom each stone had to be made according to the blueprint of the temple, it was already finished at the quarry so that at the building site it would just be fitted to the exact position that it had to be placed in, in the building. The Bible in the book of Eph 2 v 21 – 22 says we are being built together for a dwelling place for the Lord. In 1 Peter 2 vs 4-5 it says:
“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
We are therefore those precious stones that theย holy Spirit is skillfully using to build the temple of the Lord to dwell in, these stones according to God’s blueprint for the body of Christ are prepared and finished at the quarry of the world we are living in even though we are not of the world.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
Romans 12:1 NKJV
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for answering our prayers and pray that we will have a revelation of the calling that God has called each one of us to. To become precious stones to build the temple of the Lord.
