Title: Grace

Although I am less than the least of all the Lordโ€™s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, Ephesians 3:8 NIV

Reading through scriptures, the mind of God concerning the distribution of grace is clearly expressed. God is attracted to our weaknesses (2 Cor. 12:9), and to the humble He gives grace (James 4:6). Yet, He is the hope of the strong and the proud, for God loves all. Because of His great love for us, He has a way of bringing all of His children to the position where He can give grace to them.

The story of Rachel and Leah gave expression to God’s process of distributing grace. Scriptures said “And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren (Gen. 29:31)”. We see, the grace Leah received for child bearing was because she wasn’t loved by Jacob. So Her weakness attracted grace to her. Rachel who was loved by Jacob, was barren. Now, you may think God hated Rachel by her being barren, but that was not the case. Because she was barren and waited for a long time before she gave birth, God did not just give her any child, but a Prophet and a deliverer in his generation. That child was Joseph. Now, the unique sufferings and weaknesses Leah and Rachel endured determined what grace each was given.

Apostle Paul speaking about the grace he received said “Although I am less than the least of all the Lordโ€™s people, this grace was given me… (Eph. 3:8 NIV)”. That is, because of his lowly position, grace was given to him. The circumstances you are experiencing that makes you feel less than others is because God wants to give you grace. It may be rejection, ill health or lack of finance etc.

Some years ago, I was faced with lots of challenges that hindered me from being at my best. I knew they weren’t natural, and I cried out to God about them. His response to me then was “Your situation is the reason you are in position to receive my help (grace) to do my will”. While the enemy was thinking he was succeeding, his activities was putting me in position to receive grace from the Father. Joseph told his brothers “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives (Gen. 50:20 NIV)”. This will be your story if you remain faithful to God despite the unpleasant situation you are enduring.
