But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18 NIV

Though we have been delivered from the law and its labours, there’s a new labour we are required to do, which is to enter into the rest of God (Heb. 4:11). It takes grace to operate from rest, and there are certain acts of faith we need to practice to grow in grace.

The first of the acts of faith we need to do to grow in grace is to grow in our knowledge. His divine power has given us all things for life and godliness, but it is through the knowledge of Him (2 Peter 1:3 ) So, the more of Him we know, the more grace is given to us to access those things in Him that are for us.

Another way to grow in grace is through prayer. When promising the outpouring of the spirit, the spirit of grace was also called the spirit of supplication (Zach. 12:10). This indicates that the more we spend time praying in the spirit, the more grace is given to us. Again, we were admonished by God to come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:16). The way to access grace when we come before him is simply to ask Him. Clearly, prayer is a means to grow in grace.

Living humbly before God makes Him give grace to us, for the scriptures says “… God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble (James 4:6)”. When we submit to one another, we are humbling ourselves as Jesus demonstrated for us in Philippians 2:6-11. Again, being thankful makes His grace multiply in our lives.

The last act of faith I will give today is giving. This is the greatest access to grace given to us by God. This is because, when we give joyfully, God makes ALL grace abound towards us (2 Cor 9:7-8). While other acts of faith will give you access to specific graces per time, giving gives you access to all.

As we practice these acts of faith mentioned in today’s call to prayer, we will be able to operate from rest and manifest the glory of God.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word. Let’s ask Him to help us grow in grace.
