And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and said unto them, whence come ye? And they said, from the land of canaan to buy food.(Gen. 42:7 KJV)
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.(Proverbs 4:23 KJV)

There was a story I read recently about a man who was caught in criminal activities. He was then asked why he gave himself to a life of crime and inflicted pain in the community. Responding, he said the reason was because he was doing well in his little business and taking care of his family before some men came to attack them and in the process he lost his family and business. He never recovered from that incident. The hatred took him over and he started inflicting the same pain on others.

Joseph was grieved and very sorrowful when he saw his brothers who had hurt him. Who turned deaf ears when he begged them for his life. Now that he had the powers to pay them back in their own coin, he still refrained himself (Gen. 42:18) because of the fear of God in him.

It is human to be upset for a while with people that may have hurt you deeply, trampled you down, led you astray, wasted valuable years of your life, destroyed things that seem irredeemable around you. What is not normal is keeping the pain and feeling hurt everytime you see or think about them.

God uses situations and circumstances around our lives to train us and if we are stuck in the last experience that seems negative, we will be left behind in his next agenda. Hence, the need to forgive, learn from it and move on because the future is definitely more promising than yesterday. Refuse to let sorrow and pain rob you of your glorious destiny in Christ.

Prayer point:
Let’s thank God for the word today. Letโ€™s pray that the Almighty will enlarge our hearts with His love and give us the grace to let go of every hurt to the glory of His name.

God bless you.
