Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Despite God’s care, not everyone has their needs met. Unmet needs cause frustration and create doubts in the minds of believers. Learning how to present our requests before God would eliminate this frustration.
Although we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus, they become manifested in our lives when we pray. So, God expects us to talk to Him concerning every desire we have. When anxious thoughts arise in our hearts, instead of dwelling on them, cast them on God by praying to Him about them.
As we know, the prayers that God answers are those done with faith. However, when Apostle Paul was writing to the Philippian Church about praying to God about their anxiety, he said, “by prayer, petition (or supplication) with thanksgiving” (Phil. 4:6). Although these three are similar, they are different. Prayer is simply communicating with God, in this case, about our needs. Supplication describes the heart posture by which the prayer should be done, humbly (supplication means a humble and earnest prayer or request, often directed towards God). Finally, after we have presented our requests to God in a humble manner, we thank God for them because we believe He has heard us.
The reward of talking to God about our cares is not just the granting of our requests, but also the peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ (Philipians 4:7). This results in us not being anxious about our situation.
Worry is defeated when we pray in faith about our situation. When we pray concerning our situation, our faith is strengthened to believe that God cares.
