โ€œLet the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.โ€
โ€œLook, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.โ€ Revelation 22:11-12 (NIV)

Every action we take is a seed sown into eternity. Just as a crop grows and eventually yields fruit, so will our deedsโ€”whether good or evilโ€”produce consequences in eternity. There is a day of reaping when each person will receive their reward from the Lord.

A wise person considers the end from the beginning. Our time on earth is temporary; therefore, we must live with the understanding that what we do now determines our eternal position. When Jesus appeared to John, He declared that He is coming soon and that His reward is with Him, to give to every person according to their works (Revelation 22:11-12). This truth should compel us to live in a way that is pleasing to Him.

The Bible says, โ€œWhere there is no vision, the people cast off restraintโ€ (Proverbs 29:18). Vision is simply a clear picture of the future. When we keep a vision of Christโ€™s return and His eternal rewards in our hearts, it becomes easier to resist temptation and live righteously. Sadly, many professing believers ignore this vision and insist on following their own ways.

Sin may appear attractive for a momentโ€”like stolen waters that seem sweetโ€”but its end is sorrow and regret. The rewards of eternity are not temporary; they are eternal. The blessing the Lord gives lasts forever, and so do His judgments. Those who truly fear the Lord understand the seriousness of His judgment and choose to walk wisely.

If you have been living below Godโ€™s standard, there is still an opportunity to repent. When you genuinely acknowledge your sins and turn from them, God is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Once He forgives you, your past is erased, and you are no longer under the expectation of judgment.

Beloved, heed the Lordโ€™s call today. Live with eternity in view. Jesus is coming soon, and His reward is with Him.

Prayer Point:

Let us thank God for His word today. Ask Him to reveal any area in your life that is not pleasing to Him, and pray for the grace to repent and walk in righteousness.
