Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”  Exodus 33:18 NIV

Moses was a man whose ministry was marked by the supernatural manifestations of God. From his call at the burning bush to being used to perform signs and wonders in Egypt—which led to the freedom of the children of Israel—glorious supernatural events were the norm in his ministry. Yet, Moses knew there was more to God, and he requested to see the glory of God (Exodus 33:18).

The outward manifestations of power and prosperity are what many people consider the glory of the Lord. Though these are included in His glory, they are not the entirety of His essence. The devil can manifest power and can offer the whole world to an individual (prosperity), yet he doesn’t have the glory of God. When Moses requested to see the glory of God, he was invited to a secret chamber, where God revealed certain attributes of Himself:

“And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
Exodus 34:6–7 NKJV

All that the Lord revealed about Himself from the scripture above was His character, which is summed up as love, for forgiveness, compassion, mercy, and chastening are all attributes of love. So, the glory of God is actually LOVE.

When we walk in love, we are manifesting the glory of God. Love is the very image of God, and we are transformed into that image—from glory to glory—when we behold love, who is God, through Scripture and every other means by which He reveals Himself.

• Let’s thank God for His word today.
• Let’s ask Him to open our eyes to see His glory so we can be transformed into His image.
