In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.ย John 1:1-5

It’s amazing how we read this scripture or we have even memorised it and yet we do not grasp the true meaning of it. I’m myself challenged as I’m writing this text, because the word of God expressly says that in Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness and darkness cannot comprehend it. Other versions say darkness did not overcome it.

What is light? Light is a natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible. So it means, it gives you the ability to see things you could not see before. My brethren, in the presence of light darkness of any kind, cannot exist. If we have darkness in any area of our lives it is because we have not sought the Holy Spirit to give us light about that situation. God is challenging each and every one of us this morning to seek Him for everything in our lives that represents darkness, seek Him to give His liberating revelation about that situation.

John 8:12 states “Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, โ€œI am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.โ€ My brethren, this is the light that we need for life, in our daily living we need this light. My brethren, this is the life to live by. Isaiah 9:2 states that “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them”. Saints, we should not be living in darkness anymore, we have seen the light, and this light is the life of men. In it, oppression, curses and all evil disappears.

I want to encourage you this morning to seek His light, revelatory knowledge that will liberate you from any form of darkness, or oppression. Finally, my brethren the word of God states in the book of Gen 1:26 “Then God said, โ€œLet Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…”. We are created in the image and the likeness of God. God is challenging us to come up to His standard and seek Him for light, and stop operating in a standard that He did not set for us. Therefore “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising” (Isaiah 60:1โ€ญ-โ€ฌ3 NKJV).

Prayer point:

Let us pray that the eyes of our heart, the very center and core of our being be enlightened, and flooded with light by the holy spirit so that we will know and cherish the hope, the divine guarantee, the confident expectation, and the riches of our glorious inheritance in us the saints.
