Title: How to Develop a Renewed Mind – Part 2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)
I have been sharing on the topic, “A Renewed Mind” for some time now. We have learnt so far that the mind has to be renewed or made new again when we come to Christ. This means that we have to forsake our own Thoughts and Methodology (way of doing things) and submit to the ways of Christ. We have also learnt that we can develop a renewed mind when we are able to recognize that God’s ways and Thoughts are superior and better than ours, and present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. I would like to share additional keys required to develop a renewed mind.
To develop a renewed mind, we don’t have to follow the patterns of this world but that of God. First, we must not follow the values of this world. For example, what is valuable to most people in the world is money (Luke 12:15, Matt 6:31-32). The people in the world place the activities that enable them to acquire wealth above everything else, including their relationship with God and others. Some people are willing to use any means to get money with no consideration of the godly laws they will break. However, as Christians we are to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness above everything else (Matt 6:33).
We don’t have to also follow worldly principles or playbook of the world. Some worldly principles are love those who love you, hate those hate you, save all your money, revenge etc. The word of God on the other hand teaches us to love our enemies, give to the poor and forgive those who offend us (Matt 5:54, Matt 6:14, Prov 19:17). We must live according to the word of God and apply it to every situation and in every area of our lives.
Last but not the least, we must not follow the morals of the world. This is because there are so many things that the world considers right, but they are wrong in the sight of God. Therefore, your sense of what is good and what is bad cannot be shaped by the world but by God (Eph 4:23-24). For example, it is very normal in the world to tell a lie and to fornicate. The world even uses nice words like dating, boyfriend, girlfriend to describe fornication and make it seem normal. They also support transgender, lesbianism and homosexuality with the reason being that everyone has the right to do what he/she likes with his/her body. However, all these are wrong in the sight of God and must not be followed.
Beloved in the Lord, God wants us to have a renewed mind so we can discover and experience the good, acceptable, and perfect Will of God. We can develop a renewed mind by following the values, principles, and morals of God, and not that of the world.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask God to help every Believer around the world to have a renewed mind. Let’s ask Him to help us to obey His word and follow His values, principles, and morals.
God bless you all.
