And He said to them, Beware, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for oneโ€™s life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses. Luke 12:15 NKJV

Many young people believe happiness will come laterโ€”when the money comes, when marriage happens, when dreams finally come true, or when life becomes easier. We often tell ourselves, โ€œIf I can just get this one thing, Iโ€™ll be happy.โ€ But Jesus teaches us something different.

Jesus said, โ€œI am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirstโ€ (John 6:35). Bread represents what keeps us alive every day. Jesus was saying that He alone can satisfy the deepest hunger in our heartsโ€”longings that money, relationships, popularity, or success can never fill.

The world pushes us to chase things, but Jesus warns, โ€œLife does not consist in the abundance of possessionsโ€ (Luke 12:15). Having money is good, marriage is a blessing, and success is helpfulโ€”but none of these can give lasting joy. Many people have all these things and are still empty inside.

The psalmist understood this when he said, โ€œWhom have I in heaven but You? And there is none on earth that I desire besides Youโ€ (Psalm 73:25). True happiness is not found in what we have but in who we belong to.

Are we waiting for a season, a person, or a breakthrough to make us happy? Or have we discovered that Jesus is enough now? When Christ is our portion, blessings become additionsโ€”not replacementsโ€”for joy.

True happiness is not postponed until life improves. It begins the moment we rest in Jesus, knowing that in Him we are complete.
When Jesus becomes our source, blessings become extrasโ€”not replacementsโ€”for joy. Whether life feels full or empty, Christ remains enough. Real happiness starts when we stop waiting for things to change and start trusting Jesus right where we are.

Prayer Point

  • Let’s thank God for His word
  • Let’s ask Him to help us to stop chasing things that cannot satisfy.
  • Let’s ask God to teach us to find joy, peace, and identity in Him alone.
  • Let’s ask God to help us believe that He is enough for us, today and always. Amen.
