Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. (Isa 60:1)

Rise ye up,ย takeย yourย journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle. (Deut. 2:24)

When we came into the kingdom of light, the Lord had great hope that we will shine and that the brightness of our shining will be that attraction and spectacle that will draw unbelievers or gentiles alike to the kingdom that we represent. In our first scriptural text, we see a command and an announcement of a certain deposit that had been made for us. It is similar to having a prophecy concerning the future physically for what God had already concluded in the spirit. There are things to be done to see it fulfilled even though God had said it.

The command word โ€œariseโ€ therefore needed to be given to bring to the consciousness of the believer just in case he is not aware, or he is sleeping or sitting down that he needs to stand alert. The essence of arising is to start a journey whose final location ends in light. The steps between arising and shining is full of instructions and revelations. When Isaac commanded Jacob to arise and go to Padan-aram (Gen. 28:1-2), it was his obedience to his father command that led him to Bethel where he had his first encounter with the Lord. That journey was the beginning of his fulfilment in divine destiny. Because he obeyed the command, God committed to leading him.

There are areas of life and destiny that the Lord had told many to arise just like he had told Abraham for long before he responded. Until that command is yielded to with the aim of carrying out further instructions, shining may not be in view. Some have even forgotten they were once commanded to arise and go on a journey to possess light and begin to manifest the glory of God. When the Most High sees commitment, He begins His leadings with instructions and revelations. This then draws us into His light where we flourish and become men and women wondered at.

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for the word today. Let us receive grace to arise and follow His instructions so we can end up shining.
