For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. [12] In those days when you pray, I will listen. ( Jeremiah 29:11-12 NLT)

The enterprise of prayer is a vast one that requires knowledge to be adequately maximised. Many times, there has been answers to the prayers of men but they didn’t know and still continued to petition heaven on the same matter like Daniel.

There is a two-way relationship in prayer that needs to be understood. What is happening on the side of God and what should happen on the side of men. In our opening text, we see God’s desire when we pray which is what happens when we engage Him. There is an end in the mind of God which is a good future irrespective of our prayer point. On the side of men, we see prophet Habakkuk, one of the few persons recorded in scriptures that points in the direction of what men should do to maximise the answers to prayers from God (Hab. 2:2-4).

The problem therefore lies in taking delivery of these answers because when it comes to us, most times, it will come as an instruction and that is where the communication breaks. There are things that must be done on the side of men which the Lord will communicate by his Spirit but men want everything to be done from the side of God. The vehicle for delivery of prayers majorly are instructions.

The Lord is alpha and Omega and when He speaks, He sometimes speaks from the end because He knows it like He spoke concerning Gideon the mighty man of valour even though it was inconceivable by Gideon because his reality at that time negates the future God was talking about (Judges 6: 12-15). That is why He gives instructions as a guide on how to get to that end. There are people He has given instructions to in the past concerning certain matters but they have refused to carry it out and they are still praying. Until these instructions are obeyed, there will be no end in sight.

We must therefore be conscious of these communication strategy that goes on in the spirit realm and not waste precious time or lose any ground to the enemy.

Let us thank God for the word today. Let us ask for grace to fully obey His instructions on our way to fulfilment.
