Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men (Matthew 5:13 KJV)

When Christ paid the ultimate price on the cross and was resurrected, a premise was created through which we can be part of the Royal household of the great king of Zion. So, at salvation, there are divine deposits loaded into the life of a believer (Eph. 4:8) that empowers him/her to function as a citizen of heaven while on earth.

It is because of the weight of this divine transfer that Jesus referred to us as the salt of the earth which means that a believer is ordinarily supposed to be a solution provider where crisis and chaos exist and to be a restorer of joy where sorrow has prevailed. However, this divine nature can only be activated by the Holy Spirit and many today are victims of the same problems God had raised them to solve because they find it hard to yield to the leading of the Holy Ghost due to misalignment. Whereas, the world can only be brought to reflect heaven through the manifestation of the sons of God (Rom. 8:19).

Furthermore, there is a tendency for the salt (believer) to lose his savour according to Matt. 5:13 and become tasteless, hopeless, naked, and empty through the sowing of the seed of corruption. One of the ways this manifest is by what comes out of us (Mark 7:15). This seed is carefully planted over a period of time through ungodly associations and before you know it, the child of God is already swearing and cursing others out of anger. This is evidence that the salt is losing his savour gradually and if care is not taken, it will be totally lost and there will be no more use for such a life but to be cast out and trodden under.

In Ps 119:9, the psalmist points to a way to avoid losing the savour of the salt and it is taking heed according to the word of the Lord which is following the instructions from the written word and the instructions by the Spirit of the living God.

Prayer point:

Letโ€™s pray for strength to stand and give no place to corruption from the evil one in our lives that could make us lose our savour.
