โ€œDo not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,ย where moths and vermin destroy,ย and where thieves break in and steal.ย But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,ย where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.ย (Matthew 6:19-20).

Investment as we all know is about depositing a valuable commodity such as shares, property, or money. In our world today, we have different accredited financial institutions that help us achieve the goal of our target investment. However, prior to investing, one must register and obtain a valid bank account recognized by a specific financial organization. After the account is opened and verified, the individual can proceed with the deposit and eventual transactions. We also know that anyone who invests at home or deposits their money outside an authorized financial institution risks a lot. Now, those are the earthly protocols of investment.

The Heavenly kingdom likewise has its laid down protocols. First of all, one needs to register an account by God, and the basic requirement to open this account is total repentance and forgiveness of sin by accepting Jesus Christ (John 3:16), in summary; it is the first work of grace called salvation. Having salvation makes us verified account holders of the heavenly financial institution. There are unbelievers around us who according to our human judgment think because they are nice, good, generous, and kind, are to enter His kingdom because of those virtues. The scriptures make us understand that it is only God that is good (Luke 18:19). It is unfortunate that, if they are not saved, all their “good” works are not recognised, in fact, they stand condemned (John 3:18).

Beloved of God, as kingdom citizens, we can’t just sit back and relax with a zero account balance in the kingdom. There are policies of investment which the scriptures highlight to us. One of the ways to grow our kingdom account is by preaching the gospel to the sinners (Daniel 12:3, Mark 1o:29-30). Another way is by taking care of the Orphans and widows among us (James 1:27). More so, we can invest more by visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and providing accommodation to the homeless (Matthew 25:35-40). We can grow our heavenly account by sharing with the poor and less privileged in society (Mark 14:7). Sowing seeds unto God by taking care of His prophets and ministers attracts massive rewards (Galatians 6:7-8, Matthew 10:41-42). We can increase our investment in Him also by doing good to all (Galatians 6:10).

Prayer point:

Let’s thank Him for today’s word. Let’s ask Him to help us invest richly by following scriptural guidelines.
