Contrary to what many may think, a large section of the Church are concerned about character development. Though not many understand the instruction of Christ. The lack of understanding have made people to emphasize on certain obvious sins, while failing in other areas they may consider inconsequential, but vital in the revealing of our identity as Christians (those like Christ).

For example, we all know that fornication, murder and stealing etc are sins, as these things are obvious to us. But you may be a virgin but have fear, jealousy and be lacking in love towards others etc. These sins that people consider little are as important as the others, as accommodating them reveal you as a carnal believer and they affect your spiritual growth. God has called us to perfection (Matt. 5:48), we shouldn’t allow little foxes to spoil our vine, or allow a little leaven to leaven the whole lump.

Our goal as believers should be to be like Him more and more. Therefore, we must have an open mind towards His Spirit in us to convict us of wrong and access grace from Him to repent of these sins. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit, meditation on the word of God and praying in tongues for a long time help in our transformation to be more like Him in our character.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s also ask Him to help us to reflect Him in every area of our lives.
