Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way!
Proverbs 19:2
Today, I will be writing on something that can transform our lives from ordinary to extraordinary. It’s about discovering and living out God’s purpose for us. As expressed in our opening verse, When we’re unclear about our purpose, we can easily get sidetracked and miss out on the life God has planned for us.
So, what does it mean to live a purpose-driven life? Firstly, it’s about worshiping God and living for His pleasure. Psalm 100:2 encourages us to “worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”. When we prioritize worship, we set our hearts on things that truly matter. Secondly, it’s about building meaningful relationships with others and learning to love God’s family. Acts 2:42 describes the early Christians devoting themselves to fellowship, and we can learn from their example.
Furthermore, living a purpose-driven life involves becoming like Christ and growing in spiritual maturity. Matthew 28:19-20 and 2 Peter 3:18 remind us that we’re called to discipleship and growth. As we mature in our faith, we’ll naturally want to serve others and use our gifts to benefit the community. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 and Galatians 5:13 encourage us to use our unique gifts to serve others. Ultimately, we’ll want to share God’s love with others and fulfill the Great Commission, as Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:19-20 command us.
To live a purpose-driven life, we need to reflect on what motivates us. Are we driven by guilt, resentment, fear, materialism, or approval? Or are we driven by a desire to serve God and others? Furthermore, we need to seek God’s plan and trust that He’s working everything out for our good. You were created to fulfill a unique purpose and you can only find that by fellowship with Him. Isaiah 43:18-19 and Philippians 3:13-14 remind us that God’s purpose is not limited by our past experiences. By prioritizing God’s purposes and focusing on what truly matters, we can live a life that brings glory to Him.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His Word. Let’s ask Him to help us understand His purpose for our lives. Let’s ask Him for wisdom and discernment to prioritize what truly matters. Let’s ask Him for empowerment to live a life that brings glory to Him.
