Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

2 Corinthians 3:2-3

While growing up, there was a certain group of Christians that we normally referred to as โ€œS Uโ€ (a Christian organisation meaning Scripture Union) whether or not they belong to this organisation was not relevant but the qualifier was the way they ordered their lives. These set of believers radiate Holy living, righteousness, and the essence of the kingdom. The conversation about worldly desires is far from them and they seem to have died to the products that the devil is marketing to everyone else.

When you move close to them, you suddenly realise you are having a desire to know God. Men and women trust their judgement because of truth and uprightness. Such were the attributes of the brethren in Corinth that Apostle Paul could write boastfully of, calling them epistles of Christ because the Word of God dwelt in them and they lived according to the word and not according to the world.

As believers, we are expected to maintain a growth rate that eventually attains the stature of this church, understanding the word of God to a point that we begin to think in scriptures. That no matter what you do or are about to do, you are guided by the word from God written in the scriptures. When we begin to live like this, it becomes very hard to lie and it becomes an uphill task to engage in any form of sexual immorality. Joseph exemplified this in Egypt because he had become a living epistle and everything he does was through the vista of the word of God. So, when Potipharโ€™s wife came, it was already impossible to compromise.

In Acts 1:1, The Lord was first a doer and not only a teacher of the word of life, meaning that he lived among men the things he taught. The standard is therefore set with the help of the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven, we are able to be living epistles that men can read and know the ways of God.

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for today and let’s pray for the grace to be living epistles read and known of all men to bring them closer to Christ.
