Title: Love Waits

However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him
(1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV).
It is God’s will that Christ is formed in us, that is, the submissive nature Jesus demonstrated when He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death (Philippians 2:8). This formation of Christ in the hearts of men is a product of the process God takes us through in our relationship with Him.
No one is born spiritual, for we all have to grow from being carnal to becoming spiritual. This growth process includes a dimension of suffering we would need to experience, where we will learn certain things from God that will cause us to have a heart that is willing to obey God. Even Jesus Christ had to learn obedience through the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8). One such suffering is waiting under difficult situations.
God causes His chosen ones to wait before certain promises are fulfilled. We find Joseph waiting over 13 years for his word to come to pass. During that period, he had to endure betrayals from his brothers, slavery in a strange land, and imprisonment. Also, though David was anointed king over Israel as a teenager, he waited many years as a fugitive before he finally became king of Israel.
During this time of waiting, our loyalty to God is tested, and only those who endure to the end see promises fulfilled. Through the diverse trials God allows in the time of waiting, our character is perfected (James 1:3), and Christ is formed in our hearts. When Apostle Paul quoted the book of Isaiah, where Isaiah wrote about how God acts on behalf of those that wait for Him (Isaiah 64:4), Apostle Paul changed “those that wait for Him” to “those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). This suggests that those who wait for God are those who love God. This is also confirmed when he wrote, “Love is patient” (1 Corinthians 13:4).
Don’t give up during your waiting season, for God is crafting His image in you. Soon His promises to you will be fulfilled. Those who wait for Him are those who love Him.
