Title: Make Time for the Lord

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:   Ecclesiastes 3:1

 

At times, one can be so occupied with so much to do with seemingly little time. For example, as a young adult in a transitive stage with all its challenges, like finding a job, preparing to take a competitive exam, acquiring relevant skills, and so on. Or a young couple trying to make ends meet and at the same time save up to buy a house. 

Despite the busyness, I would like to encourage us to still makeout time for voluntary service; whether in the house of the Lord or Society. I believe even with the busy schedule, more often than not, we still make time for leisure. So why is there no time for service, in other words, for God? 

Self-reflecting sincerely on why you might not be serving anywhere, you might realise that the actual reasons could be laziness, selfishness, lack of understanding of the advantages of service, or more love and passion for other things other than the love for God and humanity, etc.

While you may be in a delicate season where you genuinely have to tackle certain things, you can still allocate some time for the Lord; time to serve. I share some keys in this regard below.

Firstly, let’s believe there is time; it just has to be organised. In such a heightened season of busyness, I would suggest you reduce your service time, not stop. Because if you stop, it might be difficult to start again,  as opposed to if you simply slow down or reduce. 

Let’s remember that, as we know, the Lord rewards every good we do, such as voluntary service in His house or society. God will pay you in full! (Hebrews 11:6, Mathew 25:40).

Another thing is to enjoy the service. Why can your service not also be a leisure? Leisure does not always have to be unproductive. There is joy in working for good. 

Lastly, look at the time you might be spending on Social media despite claiming no time for service. Why can’t that time not be used for a fulfilling purpose, such as service?

Your dreams, career pursuits, projects, or whatever is taking so much of your time must not be done overnight. It is a process, and you can make time too for God, even as you build on it.

With these few keys shared, I hope by His grace we can continue or start to make time for God even in our heightened seasons of busyness.

Prayer Point: 

Let’s thank God for giving us time in the first place.  Let’s pray for grace to love God by making time to serve Him with the time He has given us.
